Warming Station and Overnight Shelter Information

The City of Altus, in coordination with community partners, will open a Warming Station and Overnight Emergency Shelter due to extreme cold conditions.

Warming Station
📍 Altus Community Center
Friday, January 23
🕛 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Saturday-Sunday, January 24-25
🕛 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

The Warming Station is a safe, heated location for anyone needing relief from the cold. Individuals may arrive at any time during operating hours.

Overnight Emergency Shelter
📍 Hangar 36
🗓 Friday through Sunday, January 23 to 25
🕗 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM

Transportation
Transportation will be provided from the Altus Community Center to the Overnight Shelter.
• Bus service begins at 7:30 PM each evening
• Individuals may wait inside the Warming Station until boarding

What to Know
• No ID required
• Open to individuals, families, etc
• Cots and blankets are provided
• Do not need to bring bedding
• Hot evening meals are provided
• Breakfast items are being accepted through donations
• Pets allowed

Due to the predicted inclement weather, Navajo Public Schools will have a Virtual Learning Day tomorrow, Friday, January 23rd.

Tri-County Tournament games scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, January 23rd, will now be moved to Saturday, January 31st, at the same planned times.

Navajo Elementary Ambassadors would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to our Elementary Teacher of the week, Mrs. Courtney!
Mrs. Courtney has done OT for 11 years total and at Navajo for 5 years. Her favorite part about Navajo is how the community has welcomed her and how much support is given to the therapy students.

Thank you to everyone who donated food to support the Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Community Cupboard during Homecoming Week.

Our classes brought in over 4,500 food items, with the 7th and 10th grades leading the way, each donating more than 1,500 items.

Navajo Public Schools had a fire alarm go off this morning at approximately 8:05 in the Elementary Building. We evacuated the building and after further investigation found out it was a false alarm. Classes have resumed at this time.

Our High school Cheerleader of the Week is Emelyn! Emelyn brings a contagious spirit and uplifting energy to every practice. She consistently arrives prepared, motivated, and ready to give her best. Her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic make her a valuable part of the Navajo squad. Your coaches are so proud of the effort and positivity she brings each day!

Our Junior High Cheerleader of the week: Scout! Scout brings incredible energy to everything she does and shows up with a positive attitude every single practice. She is dependable, focused, and always ready to work. Her consistency and enthusiasm make a big impact to our Navajo squad, and her coaches are so proud of her!

The High School Tri-County Tournament has been moved to this Wednesday-Friday (1/21-1/23) due to the possibility of inclement weather this weekend.
